Fire Police

Fire Police are members of a volunteer fire department and are dedicated to responding to emergencies while providing traffic and scene control, protecting other responders and the public at fires, auto accidents, and other emergencies. Initial Fire Police training is about 40 hours and includes Basic and Advance Fire Police class, Traffic Incident Management System (TIMS), crowd control, HazMat Awareness, and several NIMS (National Incident Management System) classes. The Fire Police are vital to the effective operation of Firefighters, EMTs, and the police department at an incident.

Like Firefighters, EMS, and the Police, we are Emergency Responders who perform a special role when it comes to emergency incidents. Our most important function is to provide scene safety for our Emergency Responders so that they can perform their jobs under safe working conditions.

Fire Police duties can range from providing traffic control at fires and accidents to assisting with evacuations, crowd control, missing person searches, and many other emergency and non-emergency duties for our local Police, State Police, our Fire Companies, and our Communities.
